Since we are looking at fantasy proposals, YES, I will vote for any candidate promising to build a transporter system. It is FAR better than anything coming from Mr. Smitherman, Mr. Ford, Mr. Rossi or Ms. Thomson. It is hard to believe, but Mr. Pantalone has the only realistic transit plan among the five major Mayoral candidates. How shameful.
Of course, Transit City may come to a crashing halt if not supported by the City. If so, is this what Torontonians want? In other words, is a Transit City "bird in the hand" better than a subway "two in the bush"? I ask this to make a point. Are we going to let the proverbial "bird" fly away?
As a candidate for Councillor in Ward 7, my platform is to allow Transit City to proceed, especially along the main Finch and Eglinton Ave. corridors. I also want to see a Jane St. line and another north-south line in the east side of the City. For goodness sakes, allow someone from the west end of the City to go to the east end, make it easier for those living in the inner suburbs to commute more comfortably downtown. Transit City will do this, despite the extended time frame and reduced funds allocated to the project by the Province.
